Our Mission

The West End aims to serve the Fishers Island community by providing quality food & drink while creating a welcoming “third space.” We are a high-volume summer business but try to prioritize sustainability as much as possible, sourcing eggs, milk, greens, and more from local & regenerative farmers. We are as passionate about limiting food waste as we are about building community.

Our Location

Fishers Island is part of Suffolk County, New York but is located closer to the coastline of Connecticut. The island is accessed via ferry service from New London, CT. The majority of our team is hired from the tristate area, and housing is provided on the island (at a subsidized rate). For applicants from the New London/Mystic area who plan to commute, a subsidy for ferry transport is available.

  • Head Baker

    Seeking an enthusiastic baker to lead the micro-bakery at the café (and we mean micro!), making small-batch breads (yeasted & sourdough), cakes, cookies, and pastries. Experience in sourdough is a must. This job is early to rise. 2+ years experience required.

    This role is full-time (40 hrs/wk), May – September 

    Wage starts at $16/hr, plus tips (average $28/hr) — commensurate with experience

    Housing is provided, at no extra cost, in close proximity to the café– this person must live on the island

  • Head Barista

    Seeking an experienced barista to run a La Marzocco Linea PB AV (2-grip) machine. We work with expertly sourced coffee beans & the best creamline Jersey milk from our friend Carol’s farm in Preston, CT. Be prepared for high-volume drink orders (espresso, matcha, teas, iced beverages). Must love interacting with customers. 2+ years experience required.

    Wage starts at $10.65/hr, plus tips (average $32/hr) — commensurate with experience

  • Line Cook

    Seeking a cook for the breakfast/lunch line, focused on made-to-order sandwiches, fresh salads & egg breakfasts. This cook will also assist in our production kitchen, where we make nourishing, simple prepared foods (think lasagnas, casseroles, soups, quiches). Expect to spend 3 days a week on the line & 2 days a week in the production kitchen. 2+ year experience in a kitchen or deli required.

  • Dishwasher + Freight Runner

    Seeking an ambitious & fast-paced dishwasher. Daily tasks include: bussing, washing, drying & re-stocking dishes. You will also receive weekly deliveries & assist with basic food prep (i.e. washing greens, peeling onions). Growth opportunities available. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. Must have a valid drivers' license.
